“We will introduce an additional difficulty level to The Blood of Dawnwalker, but an easier one, because many people are asking for a more easy difficulty. The Story mode which we have right now will be a different difficulty—we will call it Demanding… and we will add a new Story mode which will be even easier for people who don’t want to experience the combat, they just want to learn the story.”

Wait, Does That Mean a Combat Skip Option is Coming?
I spent around 50 hours playing The Blood of Dawnwalker for my review. I played on the default “Fair” difficulty and found it relatively easy for a modern blockbuster RPG.
The new “even easier” difficulty proposed by Rebel Wolves raises interesting questions. Based on Tomaszkiewicz’s quote, it seems the new setting might allow players to skip combat entirely, which would be quite a radical move.
While few action-oriented games let you turn off gameplay completely, notable examples like South of Midnight offer a “combat skip” function, prompting players whenever a fight begins. Similarly, Dragon Age: The Veilguard features an invincibility mode framed as an accessibility option, allowing players to breeze through encounters.
More recently, Derelict Star allows players to create checkpoints at will, which significantly lowers difficulty in an otherwise tough platformer.
As the patch is set for early October, it will be intriguing to see how Rebel Wolves implements these features. Is combat skip becoming essential in narrative-heavy games? Many players might appreciate such an option, especially in story-driven titles like The Last of Us Part 2.
Additionally, a New Game Plus mode has been confirmed for The Blood of Dawnwalker, though details on timing are still pending.
