IAA Transportation 2026 showcased significant enthusiasm for the global commercial vehicle industry’s energy transition, attracting record numbers: 1,589 exhibitors from 46 countries and 140,000 visitors in Hanover. The event emphasized the urgent need for infrastructure development, as highlighted by the VDA, Germany’s automotive industry association.
Event Highlights:
- International Participation: 40% of visitors were international, notably from the Netherlands, China, and Poland.
- Test Drives: Over 8,500 test drives were conducted, a 32.5% increase from 2024, featuring 84 vehicles from 17 exhibitors. Milence demonstrated megawatt charging systems capable of charging vehicles during driver breaks.
- World Premieres: More than 150 innovations were unveiled.
The VDA urged policymakers to expedite the rollout of charging and hydrogen refueling infrastructures, stressing that manufacturers shouldn’t bear the costs of delays in grid expansion.
