Girls Launch Science Research Initiative to Boost STEM Interest Among Female Students in Singapore

This article highlights the notable initiative by INTEGIRLS Singapore, a youth-driven program aimed at fostering interest in STEM among girls. Over two months, 66 participants undertook various research projects, guided by mentors from academic institutions. The program’s founding team, consisting of five schoolgirls, sought to create accessible opportunities for their peers in challenging fields often dominated by males. Their efforts not only resulted in practical research experiences but also aimed to inspire potential future careers in STEM, as evidenced by participant feedback reflecting increased interest in STEM-related pathways. The initiative addresses the gender disparity in STEM fields both locally and globally.
