Faculty Insights
Becky Cunningham, ATU assistant professor of computer and information science and director of the computer science and information technology program, expressed her enthusiasm:
“Over the next two semesters, students will collaborate with their partners to research the problem, define requirements, design and develop a solution, test their work and ultimately present a completed system. I’m especially grateful to Dr. Robin Ghosh, who is co-teaching capstone with me, as well as Dr. Julie Mikles-Schluterman and Debra Fithen at the ATU Center for Community Engagement and Academic Outreach for their support.”
Cunningham highlighted the value of community-based projects, stating that these partnerships allow students to gain meaningful learning experiences while applying their skills to benefit others.
Future Prospects
Plans are underway for at least one of the projects to advance and compete in the 2027 Arkansas Governor’s Cup collegiate business plan contest.
