Converse University will celebrate its fifth annual Data Science and Cybersecurity Week, coinciding with Cybersecurity Awareness Month. This week aims to highlight the significant role of data across various industries.
Event Highlights:

Datathon
- Date: Friday, September 25, Noon – 3 PM
- Location: Barnet Room, Montgomery Student Center
- Details: In partnership with Live Healthy Spartanburg, students will analyze data on chronic health conditions in Spartanburg County. Focus questions include:
- Is there a correlation between Adverse Childhood Experiences and chronic health?
- What prevention measures can be implemented?
- Participation: Open to all majors, students can join individually or in teams, with continued work asynchronously throughout the week.

Networking Event
- Date: Tuesday, September 29, 4:30 – 6 PM
- Location: Barnet Room, Montgomery Student Center
- Details: A chance to connect with local professionals and alumni in business, accounting, mathematics, and data science. Students can practice networking skills and explore internship and job opportunities.

Keynote Speaker
- Date: Wednesday, September 30, 5:30 – 7 PM
- Location: Barnet Room, Montgomery Student Center
- Speaker: Grace Bagwell Adams ’07, Associate Professor at the University of Georgia.
- Expertise: Focused on causal impact evaluations in areas like SNAP, food insecurity, behavioral health, and early literacy.
Sponsors and Collaborations: The event is hosted by Converse’s Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, with support from faculty and the Division of Student Development and Success and Career Development.
