Arkansas Comic Con Brings Excitement to Little Rock
Thousands are converging on downtown Little Rock this weekend for Arkansas Comic Con at the Statehouse Convention Center, with expectations of over 22,000 attendees. The event celebrates comics, gaming, movies, TV shows, anime, and pop culture, while significantly boosting local businesses.
Joey Mills, the event’s emcee, highlights the positive economic impact, as visitors travel from afar, spending on hotels, dining, and more during their stay. “Every year, it has an impact,” Mills noted, emphasizing community support from local businesses and the Chamber of Commerce.
The convention serves as a reunion for fans, allowing them to bond over shared interests. Cosplay is a significant aspect of the event, with attendees like sisters Grace and Stella Rausch showcasing elaborate costumes. Grace mentioned spending around 60 hours on her original character costume from “Terraria,” while Stella expressed her appreciation for the community feel at Comic Con.
Vendor Lisa Cosentino, a regular at such conventions since 2013, enjoys sharing her art with fellow fans. “It’s just so fun to be creative and to meet fellow nerds just like me,” she said.
Arkansas Comic Con runs through Sunday, with more details available on their website.
