A structure fire on Reese Court in Libby Saturday afternoon destroyed a home and resulted in the tragic loss of four pets, including one dog and three cats. Fortunately, the occupants were able to escape the flames. The blaze also caused significant damage to a pickup truck.
Seventeen firefighters from the Libby Volunteer Fire Department responded to combat the fire, which posed a threat to nearby residences and had potential to spread downhill toward Flower Creek Road. Fire crews were assisted by Libby Volunteer Ambulance and Flathead Electric.
Fire Chief Steve Lauer stated that the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
