A fire on Reese Court in Libby on Saturday afternoon destroyed a home and claimed the lives of four pets—one dog and three cats. Fortunately, the residents escaped unharmed. The fire also caused significant damage to a nearby pickup truck.
Seventeen firefighters from the Libby Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene and worked to control the blaze, which posed a threat to neighboring residences and potentially could spread downhill toward Flower Creek Road. They were assisted by the Libby Volunteer Ambulance and Flathead Electric.
Fire Chief Steve Lauer noted that the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
