Katie Dufort’s journey to creating Puzzle Rides began during an escape-room outing with her daughter, where she envisioned a unique concept: escape-room-style adventures on golf carts. Initially starting in 2016 as a free shuttle service in Scottsdale and Prescott, Dufort transformed the business to offer scavenger hunts that blend exploration with local landmarks and puzzles, enhancing the tourism experience.
Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, Puzzle Rides has evolved to include a brick-and-mortar puzzle store in Prescott and a new “Time Trap Escape” ride in Scottsdale. Additionally, the company has developed a corporate team-building program called Relay MAX, which combines scavenger hunts with performance tracking for business insights. Dufort attributes her business’s success to the supportive communities in Old Town Scottsdale and Prescott, emphasizing collaboration with local businesses and governments.
