A marked sheriff’s cruiser in Toledo was involved in a surprising incident after being taken to a repair shop for maintenance. A witness spotted the cruiser, which had been left unattended, racing alongside another vehicle at a traffic light. Expecting law enforcement to intervene against the reckless driver, she was shocked when both cars sped off as the light turned green.
The sheriff’s office later traced the cruiser back to the repair shop, where a 22-year-old employee named Matthew Means was test-driving it. Video footage captured their racing behavior on Monroe Street, prompting the sheriff’s office to investigate further.
Means was ultimately charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle after admitting to driving the cruiser. Fortunately, no one was hurt during the incident, but the sheriff’s office condemned the employee’s actions, labeling them as a “very poor choice.” They later humorously referenced the event in a Facebook post, warning repair shop employees not to act like “Ricky Bobby” from Talladega Nights. The case is still pending, with Means scheduled to appear in court.
