Ole Miss-LSU Game Boosts Local Businesses in Central Mississippi
JACKSON, Miss. – The upcoming Ole Miss-LSU football game is igniting excitement and boosting businesses across Central Mississippi, even over 100 miles from Oxford.
Increased Demand at Campbell’s Bakery
At Campbell’s Bakery, there’s a noticeable spike in orders. Manager Ebony Jones shared, “It’s definitely way busier than usual. This competitive game has really ramped up demand.” To meet this increase, the bakery has heightened production, especially of their popular tea cakes. “One person solely focuses on making our tea cakes, churning out 1,000 with ease,” Jones noted. They’re also preparing more items for pick-up and stocking extra for local customers.
Pigskin Pins: A Mother-Daughter Venture
Another local business, Pigskin Pins, started by Sydney Kirk Vaughn and her mother, Lisa Patti, is experiencing a surge thanks to social media buzz. Known for their gameday buttons with humorous twists, demand has spiked in anticipation of Coach Lane Kiffin’s return. “People want to support the state and are excited to get the pins,” Vaughn said. “The rivalry brings everyone together, and the buttons are a fun way to engage.”
Economic Impact Beyond Oxford
The excitement surrounding this big game extends well beyond the football field, greatly impacting local economies and fostering community spirit.
