Space Force seeks personnel from all branches of the military to strengthen its forces.

The Space Force is currently accepting applications for active-duty service members interested in transferring to become Guardians. This opportunity is part of its fiscal 2027 interservice transfer program, open for two weeks. The military aims to recruit several hundred officers and enlisted personnel with backgrounds in space operations, cyber, intelligence, acquisition, and engineering to support its growth.

Vice Chief of Space Operations, Gen. Shawn Bratton, emphasized the urgency for expansion, stating that the service’s current size exceeds 10,000 Guardians and 5,407 civilians. The program gives service members the chance to bring their experience into the Space Force, addressing the need for personnel to meet mission demands.

However, not everyone is eligible. Reserve and National Guard members, Coast Guard personnel, and certain officers who have been passed over for promotion or have derogatory records are excluded. The application window is open until October 2, and selected candidates will need to commit to four years of service. Interested service members can find the specialty code crosswalk to see how their military specialties align with Space Force roles.
