Scientists have recently used fossilized teeth to determine that the body temperature of Tyrannosaurus rex was around 97°F (36°C), similar to modern elephants and not far from humans. This research challenges previous notions of dinosaurs as cold-blooded creatures and suggests that T. rex, likely warm-blooded, could maintain a stable temperature across various prehistoric North American climates. The study, published in Science Advances, indicates that understanding T. rex’s temperature may provide insights into its lifestyle and predatory behavior. Future research could assess the temperatures of other dinosaur species to further explore their biology and dominance in their ecosystems.
