GSA Alerts Contractors to a “Glitch” and Advises Validation of Small Business Status Claims on SAM.gov

The General Services Administration (GSA) has notified certain System for Award Management (SAM) registrants about a known glitch that has affected registrations since spring 2026. This issue has caused inaccuracies or missing data in the FAR 52.219-1 Small Business Program Representations for some entities. Specifically, affected registrations are displaying “N/A” instead of “Yes” or “No” regarding small business certifications under the applicable NAICS codes.

To address this, GSA and Crowell recommend that contractors promptly review their Representations and Certifications in SAM.gov to ensure the accuracy of their small business and socioeconomic status. If any NAICS code shows “N/A,” it should be updated to “Yes” or “No” by re-entering the entity’s receipts and employee count, as relevant. This verification is crucial to prevent compliance issues related to small business certifications and to maintain eligibility for future contracts.

It’s important to clarify that while GSA suggests a “Re-certify and update” process, it does not imply that entities are required to recertify against specific contracts. Instead, they need to verify and correct any inaccuracies caused by the glitch in their SAM records.
