Daisuke Obana’s spring collection for N. Hoolywood presents a fresh interpretation of Ivy Style, drawing inspiration from athletic clubs in L.A. and New York as well as 1920s rowing culture. Titled “Physical Culture,” the collection is rooted in Obana’s memories of Ivy and vintage style from his time working in vintage stores in Japan during the 1990s.
The collection showcases a blend of sportswear and tailored pieces, utilizing classic materials and colors while incorporating modern styles with workwear details and technical fabrics. Highlights include tank tops, blazers, pleated trousers, and outerwear—each piece reflecting a mix of traditional elegance and contemporary functionality.
Obana emphasized his innovative approach by collaborating with esteemed brands like Brooks Brothers and Dickies, aiming to modernize Ivy Style without merely recreating it. His vision is to merge traditional clothing with elements of workwear and sports, creating a new interpretation of style for today.
