New York to Begin Distributing Energy Rebate Payments

New York State will begin mailing energy rebate checks of up to $200 starting next week, benefiting approximately 8.2 million households between September 21 and the end of December. Funded by $1 billion from the state budget, the checks aim to alleviate rising energy costs. Eligibility criteria include filing taxes as a full-time New York resident in 2024, with the checks not applicable to dependents. Joint filers with incomes below $150,000 will receive $200, while those earning between $150,000 and $300,000 will get $150. Single filers with incomes under $150,000 will receive $100. No application is required if taxes were filed.
