Green SM introduces electric taxi service in Palembang.

Green SM has launched an electric taxi operation in Palembang, marking its second location in Sumatra and the sixth in Indonesia. This initiative aligns with the Indonesian environment ministry’s air protection campaign and targets the large population of Palembang, a major trade hub with over 1.8 million residents.

The company aims for a five-star service standard with its fully electric fleet, professional drivers, and transparent fares. Green SM has already established a presence in Jakarta, Makassar, Surabaya, Bali, and Bandar Lampung.

As part of its global operations, Green SM has completed approximately 850 million trips, reducing CO₂ emissions by over 800,000 tonnes—equivalent to the annual carbon absorption of around 36 million trees.

Pham Nhat Minh Hoang, the Global Chief Executive of Green SM, expressed excitement about expanding green mobility services in Indonesia, emphasizing the potential benefits for both residents and the environment.
