Durham police are investigating a tragic vehicle crash involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Knightwood Drive and Bengel Drive. A juvenile male was struck head-on by a vehicle while riding his bicycle and later succumbed to life-threatening injuries at the hospital.
The incident occurred around 12:43 p.m. when a female driver in a 2020 Hyundai Palisade was traveling north on Knightwood Drive. The juvenile had transitioned from Bengel Drive into the middle of Knightwood Drive when the collision happened shortly after he entered the roadway.
Currently, no charges have been filed, and the investigation is ongoing. Further details will be released as appropriate.
