Formula 3 Feature Race: Multi-Car Pileup
The opening feature race of the Formula 3 weekend began dramatically with a multi-car pileup at the Madrid circuit. Fortunately, all drivers involved were reported to be unharmed.
This weekend marks the concluding round of the Formula 3 championship, featuring two feature races instead of the usual one.
Early Incident Causes Red Flag
The race was halted on the first lap as multiple incidents occurred on the narrow track. Two cars from Van Amersfoort Racing, driven by Enzo Deligny and Bruno del Pino, collided at Turn 7. Simultaneously, Maciej Gladysz’s ART Grand Prix car went airborne after failing to stop in time for the earlier collision.
Drivers’ Safety Confirmed
Following the incident, Gladysz, Deligny, along with drivers José Garfias, Fernando Barrichello, Michael Shin, and Nicola Lacorte, were unable to continue the race. Noah Strømsted and Fionn McLaughlin were also caught up in the chaos but managed to return to the pit lane. The championship confirmed on social media that all drivers are safe.
The first feature race of the weekend is set to resume at 18:35 local time (17:35 BST).
