Two individuals are in critical condition following a serious crash involving a police car and another vehicle in Sydney’s southwest. The incident occurred on Prairie Vale Rd in Bossley Park around 12:20 PM on Sunday. Police were responding to a report of a child running on the motorway when the police car collided with a Kia sedan.
The police vehicle had its lights and sirens activated at the time of the accident. Both cars veered off the road, crashing through a fence and into two separate houses. The driver of the Kia, a woman in her late 20s, and a passenger, a woman in her early 50s, were treated at the scene and transported to hospitals in critical condition.
The two police officers involved, both 24 years old, sustained minor injuries and were taken to Liverpool Hospital for necessary testing. Fortunately, no residents in the houses were injured.
A critical incident investigation is underway, led by the Crash Investigation Unit, with oversight from the Professional Standards Command and the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission. Authorities are appealing for any witnesses or footage to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000. More updates are expected.
