Friday Football: Helias Dominates Battle with a Shutout Victory

The Helias Crusaders had an impressive win Friday night, defeating the Battle Spartans 52-0 in a Central Missouri Activities Conference matchup at Ray Hentges Stadium. Coach Chris Hentges emphasized the team’s goal to perform to their standard, which they achieved by scoring on all seven first-half possessions and securing a shutout.

Helias quickly established dominance, with Rylen Dassrath scoring a 1-yard touchdown after a blocked punt set them up at the Spartan 34-yard line. The Crusaders continued to take advantage of their opponent’s mistakes, scoring multiple touchdowns via both passes and rushes. Quarterback Bryan Carden completed 8 of 10 passes for 209 yards, throwing four touchdown passes in a six-minute stretch during the second quarter.

With Helias leading 49-0 at halftime, the team retained its control, allowing their backups to contribute in the second half and concluding the game with a field goal by Mark Saucier. Helias totaled 424 yards in the game, demonstrating efficiency on offense.

Battle, struggling with its offense, managed only 59 total yards and one first down. The defeat marked their 13th consecutive loss. Helias (3-0, 2-0 CMAC) now looks ahead to a matchup against Camdenton next Friday, emphasizing the need for strong practice to prepare for a challenging game.
