Rocket Lab sends unknown satellite into orbit for undisclosed client (see photo)

Rocket Lab has successfully launched a mystery mission named “Happily Ever Faster” from its New Zealand site. The Electron rocket lifted off on September 10 at 11:28 p.m. EDT, deploying a single Earth observation satellite into low Earth orbit for a confidential customer.

While the details about the mission and the customer remain undisclosed, there is speculation that the satellite is a “Gen-3” model for the geospatial intelligence company BlackSky. These satellites can resolve features on the Earth’s surface as small as 14 inches.

This launch marks Rocket Lab’s 16th of the year and showcases the company’s commitment to delivering small satellites into space, all of which have been successful in 2026.
