The Perfect Travel Companion: Arc’teryx Mantis 26L Backpack
Estimated read time: 2 min
Four winters ago, I found myself in Osaka, where a quest for the ideal backpack led me to the Arc’teryx store. I was looking for something ergonomic enough for all-day wear yet chic enough for a café or plane. When I spotted the Mantis 26L, I knew it was the one. I bought it that day, and it’s been by my side on nearly every trip since.
My Packing Philosophy
I travel light, sticking to a simple packing formula: two stylish sweaters, three shirts, a pair of light jeans, a darker pair, and either trousers or shorts depending on the season. The Mantis easily accommodates my essentials. I can stuff flip-flops in one pocket and sneakers in the other, while chargers and miscellaneous items fit nicely in the front compartments. My laptop slips into the inner sleeve, and my passport stays safely tucked away. This backpack carried all I needed during my backpacking adventure in Italy and family visits in Seoul, all without feeling cumbersome.
The Journey So Far
Four years down the line, my Mantis is undoubtedly worn, gathering scuffs from numerous airports and train stations. Interestingly, this wear has only increased my trust in its durability. Despite challenging the zipper with overstuffing, it continues to hold strong. The padded shoulder straps are still comfortable, and the chest and waist straps effectively relieve weight from my shoulders, allowing me to walk miles effortlessly.
A Lasting Bond
I’ve grown to rely on the Mantis 26L so much so that I rarely think about needing another backpack. It has become an essential part of my travel experience, and I expect it will remain that way for years to come.
