Pentagon Implements SCIFs to Boost Small Business Involvement – Association of Defense Communities (ADC)

The Pentagon has announced a plan to establish around 50 Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) across the country, aimed at providing small businesses easier access to classified information needed for Pentagon contracts. This initiative will reduce the financial barrier for companies that usually might have to spend considerable resources to create their own SCIFs.

A SCIF is a secure facility designed to protect sensitive information according to the standards set by the Director of National Intelligence. It offers safeguards against unauthorized access and surveillance.

The initiative will be managed by the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment, specifically the Office of Industrial Base Growth, focusing on creating these facilities at military installations and industry-centric locations.

The upcoming Installation Innovation Forum will showcase discussions on expanding the industrial base and workforce development at a conference scheduled for October. More information can be found on the official IIF website.
