A young researcher from Tallahassee gains national recognition for Alzheimer’s study.

Lily Ma, a high school senior from Tallahassee’s Chiles High School, has gained national recognition by winning the 2026 Humane Science Award from the National Anti-Vivisection Society. Her research focuses on using extracellular vesicles from stem cells to potentially treat Alzheimer’s Disease, reflecting her commitment to ethical scientific practices. Lily, who grew up in a science-oriented family, is passionate about continuing her work in engineering and bio-sciences at the collegiate level, aiming to either engage in hands-on research or support science through policy. This achievement positions her as an “award-winning bio-science researcher” at just 18 years old.
