InspeCity, an Indian space tech startup, has secured approximately USD 10.5 million in its pre-Series A funding round, led by Speciale Invest and Ashish Kacholia, with contributions from several other investors, including Antler Elevate and Shastra VC.
The funds will propel the company’s shift from technology validation to flight qualification and commercial delivery, focusing on executing four in-orbit missions over the next 12-18 months across their mission roadmap, which includes RIG-X, VEDA-X, and SAMA-X. These missions aim to validate capabilities in propulsion, sensing, autonomous operations, robotics, docking, and refueling.
Additionally, InspeCity plans to scale the commercial deployment of its GITA propulsion systems and enhance overall engineering and manufacturing capacity.
Prof. Arindrajit Chowdhury, the company’s CEO, highlighted their objective of transitioning from proving technologies to qualifying an integrated architecture for space applications. He emphasized the importance of satellite life-extension and the broader potential of in-space services.
Vishesh Rajaram from Speciale Invest noted that InspeCity’s comprehensive in-house capabilities in propulsion and robotics are exceptional, especially considering their cost efficiency. Similarly, Ashish Kacholia pointed out the startup’s ambition to tackle complex challenges in the space sector, including developing scalable satellite propulsion systems for a global market and advancing in-orbit service capabilities.
