Business owners and residents thrilled about the reopening of Walnut Street Bridge

The Walnut Street Bridge in Chattanooga, a beloved local landmark, is set to reopen on October 3rd after an 18-month renovation. This reopening, delayed and over budget due to unforeseen costs, is keenly anticipated by residents and business owners alike. Todd Ditmars, who lives nearby, has observed the progress and is eager for the convenience the bridge provides, linking the Northshore and Southside.

Emily Thompson, owner of Almanac Supply Company, initially braced for the closure’s impact but experienced business growth. She emphasizes the bridge’s reopening as a boost heading into the holiday season. The grand reopening celebration will feature a ceremonial walk, live entertainment, and family activities from noon to 3 p.m., attracting thousands back to this iconic structure.
