Emergency crews responded to a fatal plane crash near Space Coast Regional Airport in Titusville on Monday. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incident involving a Mooney M20F, a four-seat, propeller-driven aircraft.
Images showed the plane engulfed in flames on the side of State Road 405. Titusville Fire Department confirmed the crash resulted in the death of the lone passenger, the pilot, whose identity has not been revealed.
Titusville police and fire are on scene to manage the situation, and both eastbound and westbound lanes of Columbia Boulevard are closed as emergency personnel work. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes, and residents in the Sisson Road and Columbia Boulevard area may experience power outages as FPL has shut off grid power to the area.
Valiant Air Command, which operates the Warbird Museum, stated that none of their aircraft or personnel were involved in the crash. This is a developing story; further updates are expected.
