ROX Advances Automotive Manufacturing in Abu Dhabi
ABU DHABI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, September 7, 2026 – ROX has launched a new 10,000-square-metre facility in the Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD), targeting an initial production capacity of 20,000 vehicles in 2027, with plans to ramp up to 300,000 annually by 2030. This initiative underscores the partnership between ROX and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), aimed at expanding operations and strengthening ROX’s presence in Abu Dhabi.
All vehicles produced will carry the “Made in the Emirates” mark, catering to the local market while boosting exports globally. This development is part of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology’s “Make it in the Emirates” initiative, contributing to the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology, also known as “Operation 300Bn”.
Significant Milestones
On September 3, ROX celebrated the completion of its Advanced AI Manufacturing Centre and commenced local vehicle production, highlighted by the roll-out of the first three ROX ADAMAS vehicles. This new facility enhances ROX’s commitment to localizing its operations across supply chains, technology, and design.
H.E. Hasan Jasem Al Nowais, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, remarked on the UAE’s competitive industrial ecosystem, emphasizing the country’s attractive environment for high-value investments and future industries.
Localisation and Global Growth
Mohammad Ali Al Kamali from ADIO noted ROX’s progress as a model of how industrial investments can lead to local production and enhanced industrial capabilities. The facility will enable local sub-assembly of over 80 types of vehicle components, complete vehicle assembly, and rigorous testing processes, strengthening Abu Dhabi’s automotive sector.
Future Development and Innovations
ROX plans to unveil its first UAE-designed vehicle, the “Abu Dhabi Edition,” in March 2027, showcasing a design reflective of Emirati culture. The company is also gearing up for the second season of GRAND TOUR, with two UAE-manufactured ADAMAS vehicles set to embark on a journey across Africa.
By establishing this manufacturing centre and enhancing its R&D capabilities, ROX is poised to become a key player in the global automotive industry, fostering local talent and contributing to Abu Dhabi’s economic ambitions.
