Changan Introduces SDA Pilot Advanced Driver Assistance Systems in Three Levels of Functionality

Changan Group has unveiled its SDA Pilot, an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) with three tiers, enhancing its intelligent driving efforts. The top-tier “Ultra” includes both highway and urban autopilot features, 31 active safety elements, a 560 TOPS computing chip, and a 256-line LiDAR sensor. The Changan Nevo Q06 is the first model to use SDA Pilot Ultra, ready for pre-order following the launch. Development of this technology commenced in 2009, with Level 3 conditional autonomous driving approval expected in December 2025.

Changan’s President Zhao Fei highlighted the extensive journey of developing intelligent driving technology since 2009, and the significant investment in R&D—over €7.7 billion (approximately US$8.3 billion)—backed by a team of over 7,500 engineers. The system has been trained on more than 20 million driving scenarios, utilizing a simulation framework that encompasses 224 climate regions globally. Chairman Zhu Huarong emphasized the growth of their intelligent driving team and their commitment to in-house technology development.
