- 13 gigawatts of storage
- Approximately 4.5 gigawatts of new nuclear capacity
This 2026 Carolinas Resource Plan indicates a projected winter peak demand increase of over 10 gigawatts (about 30%). The South Carolina Public Service Commission is expected to review the filing in April, with a decision anticipated by June.
Duke Energy is emphasizing cleaner technologies and grid-management strategies as part of its plan, with ongoing efforts in solar procurement and battery storage to enhance energy efficiency and reliability.
