The Dalton Youth Center recently celebrated its renovation, aimed at better serving youth in the community. Attendees included parents, children, and local officials who gathered to see the updates to the more than 100-year-old building.
Executive Director Ariana Massery, who took on her role in January, expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the project. The updates included new paint, furniture in the gaming room, a new gym floor, an upgraded kitchen, and improved technology to assist with tutoring.
The center has also formed partnerships with local organizations to offer various programs, including robotics and music writing. Additionally, it collaborates with Berkshire Bounty to provide healthier snacks. Massery emphasized the importance of creating a welcoming environment for youth, where they can receive academic support and explore new interests.
The renovations were guided by feedback from local middle school students and were approved by the Board of Trustees. The center serves approximately 2,500 youth annually and is open to all children in the area, highlighting its commitment to inclusivity and support for local youth. Spectrum notably contributed a $5,000 donation during the celebration, showcasing community investment in the center’s mission.
