This weekend marks the final opportunity to experience the remarkable costumes designed by Paul Tazewell, an acclaimed fashion and costume designer, at the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry. This exhibit has been running since January and showcases costumes from notable Broadway productions like “Hamilton” and movies such as “Wicked” and Spielberg’s 2021 adaptation of “West Side Story.”
Among the highlights of the exhibit are Glinda’s pink bubble dress and Elphaba’s Emerald City dress from “Wicked”, as well as Janelle Monae’s Met Gala outfits and costumes from “West Side Story”, including Anita’s yellow dress. Costumes from “Hamilton”, like the Schuyler Sisters’ Winter Ball gowns and the outfits of Hamilton, Jefferson, Burr, and King George III, are also on display.
The exhibit will be available until Labor Day, Monday, September 7, after which it will close permanently. Admission to the Tazewell costume exhibit is free with museum entry.
