Montpelier Pet Shop Named the Coolest in the Country
MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – A Montpelier pet shop has earned the title of the coolest pet store in the nation, according to PETS+ Magazine.
Each year, the magazine celebrates notable pet shops across the country, and this year, Cindra Conison’s The Quirky Pet, located on State Street, caught their eye. Opened in 2011, the store has become a beloved fixture in the capital city, known for its unique products, including organic catnip and its signature shaggy sheepdogs.
Conison’s achievement is particularly poignant, as it comes on the heels of her store’s recovery from the significant flooding in 2023. She emphasized the store’s distinctive vibe: “It’s more of a funky country store look… it’s such an affirmation that I did the right thing by coming back.”
The magazine also commended her commitment to selling products exclusively made in the U.S.A. and her innovative approach to the pet retail industry.
