Two Chicago officers among four hurt in collision with suspected stolen vehicle on North Side.

Two Chicago police officers were among four people injured in a crash involving a suspected stolen vehicle in Rogers Park on Friday night. The incident began when officers attempted to stop a red Toyota matching the description of a stolen car in the 2000 block of West Birchwood. The driver fled and collided with a police squad car, then struck a Volkswagen SUV on North Sheridan Road around 7:15 p.m. The force of the crash sent the SUV onto the sidewalk, hitting a 24-year-old pedestrian.

The driver of the Toyota and a passenger were apprehended. Two officers were taken to a local hospital in fair condition, while the 25-year-old male driver of the SUV was treated at Swedish Covenant Hospital in good condition. The pedestrian was transported to St. Francis Hospital, also in fair condition. Charges are pending against the driver of the Toyota.
