Middle Tennessee Electric (MTE) recently held its annual meeting on August 22, where leaders provided updates on operations and addressed member questions. MTE President and CEO Chris Jones emphasized the cooperative’s 90-year commitment to improving member lives and community engagement.
During the meeting, members voted on candidates for the MTE Board of Directors and the Nominating Committee. Three incumbents—Scott Murphy, Ross Bradley, and Hal Bone—were re-elected, along with Will Jordan in a contested race for Rutherford County’s District 2C. Board members serve staggered three-year terms.
The elected Nominating Committee members for 2026-27 are:
- District 1, Williamson County: Jessica Davey, Karen Paris, Juanita Patton
- District 2, Rutherford County: Teb Batey, Tracey Binkley, Michael Busey, Jamey Faulkner
- District 3, Cannon County: Jeanne Melton
- District 4, Wilson County: Greg Butler, Zachary Butler, Sonya Smith Wright
Key topics discussed included MTE’s average cost per kilowatt-hour, which is significantly lower than the national average, community programs, and responses to Winter Storm Fern. Additionally, leaders addressed member inquiries on generator safety, youth programs, electricity affordability, and challenges facing cooperatives.
