Do the Work Support Services LLC Opens New Location
CHINQUAPIN — Just months after its official launch, Do the Work Support Services LLC (DTW) has opened its first brick-and-mortar location at 2735 S. NC 41 in Chinquapin. CEO SanTigsha Pickett celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, August 29.
“The grand opening was a celebration of how far Do the Work has come and what we bring to the community,” said Pickett. She welcomed attendees, shared the center’s vision, and highlighted the services available, emphasizing the space as a supportive community hub.
Pickett expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support: “Seeing people walk through those doors reminded me that people believe in this mission. Do The Work is personal for me, born from my own experiences. I was emotional and proud.”
DTW is dedicated to mental health awareness and fighting the associated stigma. The organization has hosted various events, including discussions on mental health and community activities like senior bingo. Recently, DTW partnered with Operation Giveback, serving over 500 families in a back-to-school initiative.
With the new location, Pickett plans to expand services, creating a judgment-free zone for community members seeking support. “Our center will provide mental health education, peer support, resource navigation, and information about basic needs,” she explained.
Planned offerings include certification classes, workshops, youth programming, and community outreach. The center is open Monday through Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon, with potential additional hours for special events.
As Pickett balances her role as a peer support specialist and studies for her degree, she remains committed to building relationships in the community. Her long-term vision includes strengthening partnerships and making DTW a trusted resource in the area.
