Lecce Marks the European Day of Jewish Culture 2026
On Sunday, 6 September, the Jewish Museum of Lecce will participate in the 27th edition of the European Day of Jewish Culture, unveiling the exhibition “Rituals of Love” by artist Joel Itman and hosting a series of cultural events.
Event Details:
- When: Sunday, 6 September, starting at 18:00 with institutional greetings and presentation of activities.
- Exhibition: “Rituals of Love” – A contemporary artistic exploration of engagement and marriage rituals in Jewish tradition, reinterpreting symbols and gestures related to nuptial practices.
- Supporting Events: Presentation of two medieval Salento poems from the Jewish tradition, featuring a staged reading by Antonio della Rocca and harp accompaniment by Eleonora Carbone.
- Exhibition Duration: On view until December.
Museum Opening Hours: Mon–Sat 10:00–20:00, Sunday 10:30–14:00.
This event, coordinated by the European Association for the Preservation and Promotion of Jewish Culture and Heritage and supported in Italy by UCEI, aims to promote the historical, artistic, and cultural heritage of Judaism through exhibitions, readings, and local collaborations.
