Volvo Group, Daimler Truck, and Toyota Motor Corporation, along with five partners, have launched a German hydrogen mobility initiative aimed at scaling heavy-duty hydrogen trucks in Europe by 2030. This collaboration includes Bosch, Air Liquide, TotalEnergies, TEAL Mobility, and MB Energy, alongside German policymakers.
The project focuses on synchronizing truck fleets, refueling stations, and hydrogen supply to achieve competitive fuel pricing and total cost of ownership. Stations will be strategically deployed across European corridors, matching the rollout of hydrogen-powered truck fleets.
The initiative addresses a significant barrier to hydrogen trucking by ensuring that vehicle development, infrastructure, and fuel supply grow together. The partners emphasize that hydrogen trucks will complement battery-electric vehicles, with an emphasis on customer-focused refueling infrastructure and supply chain coordination.
Further announcements detailing the initiative’s progress and plans will occur on September 15, 2026, at IAA Transportation in Hanover.
