SBA Holds Information Session for Local Businesses Affected by August Storms
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Small Business Administration (SBA) conducted an information session aimed at assisting Perry and Muskingum County businesses impacted by the storms and flooding that occurred in August.
Approximately 50 business owners gathered at EagleSticks Golf Club in Zanesville to learn how the SBA can support their recovery efforts following the recent natural disasters. Terry Holden, the Ohio director of the SBA, outlined the session’s objectives.
“We’re here to provide not only what we do at the SBA, but also, in partnership with the chambers, a first line of recovery,” Holden stated. “The SBA currently offers disaster recovery loans at a very reasonable cost and interest rate. These term loans allow small businesses to recover quickly.”
In addition to physical property damage loans, the SBA offers mitigation assistance, which provides additional funding for improvements like installing sump pumps and reinforcing structures against strong winds. Although a federal disaster declaration had not yet been issued at the time of the event, Holden explained the process the SBA would follow if one were made.
“We will work with chambers and community partners to arrange a disaster center to continue communication with small businesses and residents in Muskingum County,” Holden added.
