The Directors Council has appointed Marvin DeJear as the interim executive director following Jerrica Marshall’s departure after three years to explore a new opportunity in Omaha. The Directors Council, established in 2004, consists of senior-level leaders focused on serving the Central Iowa community, particularly emphasizing the well-being of the Black community. Cameron Nicholson, CEO of the YMCA of Greater Des Moines, will take over as interim chair during this leadership transition.
Nicholson expressed gratitude for Marshall’s contributions and highlighted DeJear’s extensive experience in nonprofit leadership and commitment to the Black community. DeJear’s background includes roles at the Greater Des Moines Partnership and Evelyn K. Davis Center, making him well-suited to guide The Directors Council through this period.
