Spending a Month in Korea? Long-Term ‘Living Travel’ Options Are Gaining Popularity.

As foreign visitors to Korea reached a record 4.76 million in the first quarter of this year, there has been a notable increase in demand for “one-month living programs.” These travel packages allow guests to immerse themselves in daily life and culture over an extended stay.

Creatrip, an inbound travel platform, reported a staggering 272 percent year-over-year increase in booking revenue for these monthlong stays from January 1 to May 10. Taiwanese tourists made up the largest portion, accounting for 60 percent of total bookings, a significant 172 percent rise compared to the previous year. Hong Kong held the second position, while Japanese tourists contributed 10 percent of the bookings.

This surge is attributed to the global popularity of Korean media and the flexibility of remote work, allowing travelers to fully engage with the local culture. Popular packages often combine Korean language schools with accommodations and cultural experiences, such as traditional hanbok attire and taekwondo martial arts.

The article emphasizes the evolving nature of tourism in Korea, highlighting how it caters to longer, culturally immersive experiences.
