The 2026 National Science Popularization Month in Beijing is set to begin with a launch ceremony at Huairou Science City on September 4, under the theme “Science and Technology Change Life, Innovation Shapes the Future.” A variety of activities will occur citywide, including science carnivals, themed garden events, and film screenings. The event will unveil a list of major science events in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
Huairou Science City will open key laboratories and outreach venues to showcase significant achievements in basic research and technology infrastructure. The 16th Beijing Science Carnival will feature six themed exhibition zones, highlighting technological advances and applications in agriculture and rural innovation.
Aimed at different audiences, there will be themed events focusing on youth science education and emergency preparedness. Additionally, themed exploration routes will be launched by the “City of Science and Technology Museums.”
From September 17 to 27, the 2026 Beijing Social Science Popularization Week will take place, with Ditan Park hosting expert lectures and exhibitions. Local social science popularization activities will be coordinated with main venues.
Parks in Beijing will also participate by hosting 160 science activities during Science Popularization Month, including events related to gardening and horticulture. The “First Lesson of the New Semester” will introduce children to diverse interactive science courses.
