The Palms hotel-casino recently celebrated the grand opening of its new smoke-free gaming expansion, raising approximately $35,000 for 10 Southern Nevada organizations. This new 7,300-square-foot gaming space features 224 slot machines and a full-service bar, and it is fully enclosed, separate from the main gaming floor.
The celebration included the inaugural “Spin It Forward” IGT Charity Slot Challenge, where local personalities competed on behalf of nonprofits. Each organization participating received a $2,500 donation, totaling $25,000 from the San Manuel Gaming and Hospitality Authority. An additional $10,000 from IGT was distributed based on tournament results, with Proud to Rescue Benevolent Fund winning first place and an extra $3,000, bringing their total to $5,500.
Other participating organizations included Heaven Can Wait Animal Society, UNLV Chapter of Advancing Indigenous Science & Engineering Society, and several others. Palms management noted the expansion was developed in response to guests’ requests for more nonsmoking gambling options. The Palms, owned by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, reopened in 2022 after its acquisition in 2021.
