Opel Celebrates Green Campus Milestone in Rüsselsheim

Opel’s recent investment in a new headquarters in Rüsselsheim has sparked inquiries regarding Stellantis’s long-term intentions for its German operations. The company has celebrated the topping-out of the grEEn-campus, designed as a modern facility encompassing 114,000 square meters, slated to become Opel’s global headquarters and Stellantis Germany base by mid-2027.

Key Highlights of the grEEn-campus:

  • Building Components:

    • A 23,000-square-meter administration building
    • A 36,000-square-meter R&D facility with an integrated design center
    • A 55,000-square-meter parking area
  • Functionality: All Opel models will be developed at the R&D center once operational.

  • Sustainability Goals: The campus aims for gold certification under the DGNB sustainability standard, integrating eco-friendly features like photovoltaic systems and geothermal installations.

Florian Huettl, the CEO of Opel & Vauxhall and Stellantis Germany, emphasized that this investment reaffirms their commitment to creating a sustainable, innovative workplace and strengthens Rüsselsheim’s role in their future plans for Germany.
