The Town of Warwick has achieved significant conservation milestones this month, preserving nearly 400 acres of open space through two important projects:

New 316-Acre Public Park: Partnering with the Open Space Institute (OSI), the Town is set to establish a new public park along the New York-New Jersey border. OSI purchased the 316-acre property for $3.4 million, with plans to enhance it for outdoor recreation and wildlife habitat. Currently, the park remains closed to the public until further infrastructure, such as parking, is developed.

Burt Farm Preservation: The historic Burt Farm has been permanently preserved as protected farmland, through the acquisition of its development rights using funds from the town’s Community Preservation Fund and a $323,000 USDA grant. This easement ensures the land remains in agricultural use for future generations.

Town Supervisor Jesse Dwyer highlighted the importance of these conservation efforts, asserting that land preservation is key to maintaining Warwick’s rural character, natural resources, and access to outdoor activities amid community growth.
