Vermont Democratic Senator Peter Welch recently met with businesses in northern Vermont to discuss the negative impact of U.S. tariffs on Canadian imports. Business leaders expressed strong criticism of these tariffs, emphasizing their detrimental effects on sales and economic growth.
Mike Desmarais, CEO of TRACK Inc., which manufactures snow grooming vehicles, highlighted that his company is facing serious challenges due to concerns over tariffs. He stated that continued tariffs could lead to the closure of his business, questioning how such policies could benefit the economy or allow small businesses to thrive.
In response to these concerns, Welch, along with New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, has introduced a bill aimed at repealing the Canadian tariffs and refunding those affected.
