Brian Chesky, the CEO and co-founder of Airbnb, shared an email with employees highlighting key leadership changes within the company. He expressed gratitude for Dave’s contributions, particularly during critical periods like the pandemic and Airbnb’s IPO. Dave played pivotal roles in finance and employee experience, shaping the company into a stronger entity.
Chesky introduced Pepijn Rijvers as the new Chief Business Officer, taking on leadership of Homes, Hotels, Global Markets, and Enterprise Operations. Rijvers comes from Tripadvisor and has a wealth of experience from Booking.com, emphasizing an entrepreneurial mindset that aligns with Airbnb’s mission.
He also announced organizational changes: Partnerships will report to Hiroki, while Corporate Development & Strategy shifts to Ellie in Finance. Fallon O’Connor is appointed as the new Head of Communications and People, merging Recruiting, Talent, and Belonging & Development into a unified People organization. Lastly, Performance & Rewards and Workplace Operations will report to Ellie Mertz, strengthening collaboration with Finance.
Chesky expressed excitement for these changes and their potential to help Airbnb achieve its vision, encouraging employees to welcome the new leaders and thank Dave for his service.
