Global Modular Construction Leader Establishes Canadian Hub, Supporting Ontario’s Housing and Infrastructure Priorities
BURLINGTON, Ontario, August 19, 2026 – Invest Ontario has announced a significant $15 million investment from SEKISUI Canada Modular Solutions Inc. (SCMS) to establish its Canadian manufacturing and operations hub in Burlington, Ontario.
The Burlington facility aims to introduce advanced modular construction technology to Ontario, addressing the rising demand for housing and community infrastructure throughout the province. This initiative also promises to create skilled jobs in the advanced manufacturing sector.
SCMS, a subsidiary of Japan-based SEKISUI Chemical Co., Ltd., brings over 50 years of modular construction expertise developed in Japan. The company will utilize advanced manufacturing processes enabling up to 90% of building construction to occur in a controlled factory environment before onsite assembly. This approach is designed to enhance construction efficiency, improve quality control, reduce project timelines, and promote sustainable building practices.
SCMS is set to provide high-precision steel-frame modular building systems for various sectors, including low- and mid-rise residential developments, educational facilities, institutional buildings, and commercial projects. The company currently serves clients in Northern Ontario and aims to expand its reach across the province and into the broader Canadian and North American markets.
