Griesson – de Beukelaer, a prominent German cookie and snack manufacturer, is establishing operations in Madison County, Mississippi, with a corporate investment exceeding $70.37 million, creating 30 new jobs. Local officials have expressed enthusiasm for this development, highlighting the potential benefits for the community.
Madison County Economic Development Authority Executive Director Joseph P. Deason noted the significance of the company’s decision to base its first U.S. operations in the county, emphasizing the groundwork laid by local leaders. The project includes constructing a new state-of-the-art facility between 130,000 and 150,000 square feet, where the company will produce cookies and snacks.
Andreas Land, a board member of Griesson – de Beukelaer, expressed gratitude for the support received from various representatives, including Governor Tate Reeves and local partners, explaining that the facility in Gluckstadt will focus on renovations and innovation.
The company’s commitment to corporate responsibility and innovation guides its development strategy. The Mississippi Development Authority is facilitating the project through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive program, with assistance from Madison County authorities.
Governor Reeves remarked on the continuous efforts to attract international firms, stating that Griesson – de Beukelaer’s investment reaffirms confidence in Mississippi’s business environment. The company has a rich history, exporting products to over 40 countries and employing more than 2,000 globally. This investment illustrates Mississippi’s appeal to foreign direct investment, which is crucial for economic growth.
